As part of MDOT’s Mentor-Protégé Program, Value Engineering will provide complex roadway design services for the I-696 freeway mainline and four interchange ramps between Mohawk Ave. / Bermuda St. and Campbell Rd. / Hilton Rd., with precise limits to be determined. VE will develop a 3-D model, to include all roadway design sheets including: alignments, profiles, basic side slopes, end conditions, unique templates to accommodate location-specific conditions, tie-ins at ramp terminal intersections, grading, gore design, and super-elevation. VE will develop unique typical cross-sections for ramp locations. VE will coordinate with prime consultant, as well as other designated subconsultants, for the design and delivery of project deliverables (including for tie-in points, drainage design, any walls requiring specialty design, ITS design, and signing). VE will assist in coordinating for the resolution of utility conflicts.
VE calculated quantities and developed cost estimates. Design for the median barrier wall was completed for the ramps and for the freeway mainline. VE will compile and submit Reference Information Documents (RID) and Supplemental Documentation for the applicable Milestone submittals. VE will address and incorporate comments to update plans for the final design of the project.
VE will participate in coordination with local municipalities impacted by the project and support engagement with the public by preparing exhibits for and participating in public involvement meetings. VE will also engage in project related meetings with the project team and client, as directed, to maintain schedule and adherence to the directives provided.
