Gallup Park B2B Trail Improvements, Ann Arbor

Redesign of a shared-use-path in Gallup Park, a segment of the B2B (Border to Border) Trail system in Ann Arbor. In addition to 1.5 miles of HMA non-motorized path, work included culvert improvements, pavement markings, signage, and restoration installation. Provided final design for re-design of a shared-use-path in Gallup Park, a segment of the B2B (Border to Border) Trail system in Ann Arbor.
The final design for the reconstruction of service drives and cross streets at I-94 and Burns Ave. Work included roadway vertical and horizontal geometric design for the cross street and service drives affected by the bridge geometry changes, sidewalk and driveway entrance design, cross-street bicycle lanes, ADA upgrades, determination of ROW impacts and grading limits, assessment of utility impacts and grading limits, assessment of utility impacts/conflicts, utility conflict coordination, drainage design, and development of quantities and cost estimates.  The design had included typical cross-sections, removal and construction and profile and drainage sheets, and detail grade sheets.  Design also included the development of specifications, 3D modeling, and drainage analysis.  
VE’s design staff assigned to this project, with 44 years of experience in civil engineering and MDOT road design projects, is familiar with related specifications, plan requirements, software, and MDOT project and plan development processes.

Storage Unit Facility

VE developed the project schedule, project work plan, and project quality plan to ensure the successful delivery of each task order for the project.  The scope of the project was to develop a storage unit facility along M-100 in Grand Ledge. The existing site was zoned properly for the proposed usage.  The proposed development had included a new driveway to Hartel Road (M-100), with the proposed storage unit buildings, the proposed detention pond, an onsite office, and with access roads/aisle ways for vehicles to access storage units.

Value Engineering has provided the services with a team of qualified civil engineers, builders, architects, designers, and technicians who completed the various Tasks outlined within the scope of work. The approach for this project had been segmented into various Tasks.

Sturgis & Battle Creek Site 

For this Site Plan project in the areas of Sturgis and Battle Creek, Michigan. Value Engineering LLC (VE) provided specialized site plan services.  VE performed site plan services including site plan integration with  existing plans drawn by architect, grading plan, sanitary and water service lead design, storm sewer and stormwater management plan, soil erosion control plan, storm water calculations which  include MDOT requirements, municipal standards details,  assistance in preparing soil erosion permit, site plan review application, and MDOT drainage review of application.

Value Engineering LLC was contracted for these site locations and our work included the following deliverables to our client: 
  • Grading plans
  • Sanitary and water service design
  • Storm water management including storm sewer plans
  • Municipal standard design details were accounted for on this project
  • Soil erosion permit guidance 
  • Review of application for site plans
  • Design of site for public usage including sidewalks for ADA compliance

unity spiritual center

The Unity Spiritual Center of Lansing was formed at the beginning of 2016 from the merging of two earlier churches, Unity of Greater Lansing and Unity Spiritual Renaissance; however, its roots go back much further, to 1934. Over the decades, the group has met at a variety of locations in the Lansing area. The current location at 230 S. Holmes Street has been occupied by Unity Spiritual Center of Lansing since around the time of its formation.

With a desire to more effectively carry out its mission of “advancing the Unity movement that calls us to awaken to our oneness with God, each other and all creation,” Unity Spiritual Center of Lansing has embarked on a plan to renovate and expand the current facilities. An expansion of both the basement and main floor is desired, as well as renovation work within the existing building.

PHASE I:
Consultant will prepare plans in conformity with local, state, and federal requirements. Through proficient problem-solving, Consultant will provide design that meets ADA policy. In close coordination with Owner, Consultant will develop construction details and layouts for the proposed renovation. Consultant will design the layout to include ADA-compliant bathroom facilities and upgrades, dedicated office space, dedicated meeting/class room facilities, and possibly a utility room. Consultant will design ceilings in accordance with Owner’s desires and structural dictates. Consultant will review with Owner to confirm specific functions, space needs, goals, and desires for the proposed addition and proposed renovations to the existing structure. Design plans will be incorporated into the agreement for this project.

PHASE II:

The first portion of the process entails the design development drawings that shall articulate the final design of the proposed project to be approved by Unity Spiritual Center of Lansing.

Deliverables shall include, but may not be limited to:  
PDF print of draft architectural, MEP, and necessary structural construction documents drawings, specifications and general notes for client record and use in construction. This shall include all floor plans, elevations, building and wall sections, plan and section details, and other necessary details representing the design intent and construction elements.  ​

The scope of project is to develop storage unit facility along M-100 in Grand Ledge. The existing site is zoned properly for the proposed usage.  The proposed development will include a new driveway to Winstanley Blvd, proposed storage unit buildings, an onsite office kiosk, proposed row of shrubs along M-100 (N. Hartel Rd.), and proposed access roads/aisle ways for vehicles to access storage units.  

Value Engineering will develop site plan layouts and planning-level analysis to submit to the city of Grand Ledge for approval.  Pavement for the proposed driveway and access roads/aisle ways is to be HMA pervious pavement. Drainage will be handled by existing stormwater catch basins currently onsite.  Drainage design and analysis will be designed in the final design phase of the project.
