Spring Retroreflectivity Measurements & Condition Assessment of Pavement Markings for 3 Regions
Value Engineering performed this asset management project for three MDOT regions: Metro, Grand, and University. The project involved taking retro-reflectivity measurements on 10-20 percent of the pavement markings on state trunk lines in each region. A 30-meter mobile laser retroreflectometer was utilized for data collection in the field. Value Engineering developed staffing and logistics plans tailored to each region and assigned daily data collection routes to field teams. Measurements were conducted on interstate highways, U.S. highways, and Michigan state highways, covering various pavement marking colors and types, including those on rumble strips. Quality control was maintained through a daily calibration process.
Post-data collection, Value Engineering compiled raw data, prepared reports, and calculated averages for different material and line types. The project's successful delivery was attributed to the dedication of Value Engineering's staff. |
