Apply repairs, cold milling, and two-course hot mix asphalt overlay pavement fix type. Reconstruct US-131BR, Lover’s Lane, Heimbach Road, Moorepark Road, intersections with an indirect left-turn layout as shown in the scoping documents. Replace the existing median barrier. Perform associated grading and drainage work in the median. Modify or remove crossovers as indicated in the scoping documents. Upgrade drainage inlets, culvert endings, and culvert pipes throughout segments as warranted by above-ground inspection. Replace drainage pipes and structures as detailed in the scoping document. Road rehabilitation work is funded by JN 210099. JN 132626 will include all work required to construct the indirect lefts from Rocky River to M-216.
Segment 2: From M-216 to the CNR crossing (JN 200115- 100% state-funded):
Apply repairs, ASCRL, and two-course hot mix asphalt overlay pavement fix type. Reconstruct M-216, Michigan Avenue, Cotherman Lake Road, Flowerfield Road, YZ Avenue, and XY Avenue intersections with an indirect left-turn layout as shown in the scoping documents. Replace the existing median barrier. Perform associated grading and drainage work in the median. Modify or remove crossovers as indicated in the scoping documents. Replace drainage pipes and structures as detailed in the scoping document. Apply erosion countermeasures at the 16’x 3’ Spring Run box culvert as described by the Southwest Region Bridge Engineer.
Segment 3:
Railroad work has been completed previously, so the scope may only be limited to pedestrian crossing improvements. The Village of Schoolcraft streetscaping is relatively new; no replacing/updating is anticipated. This work is funded with JN 200115. Refinement of the scope of work on this segment will take place during design. MDOT will coordinate with the Village of Schoolcraft to discuss parking during construction and opportunities to move accessible spots to the rear of the buildings. Also anticipated are enhanced pavement markings and signal work at the Eliza St. intersection.
Segment 4: From Lyon Street to Shaver Road (JN 200115)
Value Engineering performed work as a subconsultant for providing maintenance of traffic design, non-freeway signing design, and pavement marking design during the final design. Value Engineering will provide maintenance of traffic design within the Village of Schoolcraft. Value Engineering also provided services for non-freeway signing design and pavement marking design on US-131 from the southern CN RR crossing to the POE, north of Shaver Road. Value Engineering will also be responsible for the Traffic Management Plan within the village limits from the southern CN RR approach northward; this will include MOT concept options with analysis, concept costs, and concept staging typical cross-section exhibits.
Value Engineering was part of the coordination with the MDOT Rail group and supported engagement with the public through meetings in the community for the project. Value Engineering was able to coordinate with other designated subcontractors for the design and construction of all deliverables within the Request for Proposal. Value Engineering was involved in bi-weekly meetings with MDOT, when appropriate, to maintain the schedule and adherence to the directives provided by clients.
